What you need to know when going to
Ponta Membene

🚗 Getting There

  • A 4x4 vehicle is mandatory to access Ponta Membene inside the park.

  • Use the Futi Gate only (the Gala Gate is temporarily closed).

  • Follow the yellow arrows once inside the park and turn LEFT at marker number 12 to reach us.

  • Let down your tire pressure and switch off ABS for easier driving on sandy roads.

🕒 Park Access Hours

  • October to March: 06:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • April to September: 07:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • All visitors must check in at Reception upon arrival.

💵 Bookings & Payments

  • Advance booking is required before your arrival.

  • We accept Cash, Visa cards, and EFT payments.

  • Please bring your booking receipt to present at the gate.

🚫 Important Rules & Restrictions

  • Ponta Membene is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items.

  • Park entry fees are not included in accommodation rates.

  • No pets allowed.

  • No fires or alcohol permitted on the beach.

  • No music, loud noise, or walking around at night—this is for your safety.

  • No scavenging for firewood inside the reserve.

  • No littering. Please help us protect this pristine environment.

🦁 Wildlife & Safety

  • The area is home to dangerous wild animals. Stay alert at all times.

  • Beware of monkeys—store all food in cupboards or the fridge, and lock them when not in use.

  • Do not feed or disturb wildlife under any circumstances.

🏕 Accommodation Guidelines

  • Only use the campsite assigned to you. Changes must be arranged through Reception.

  • A key deposit of 1,000 MZN (cash, passport, ID, or credit card) is required at check-in.

  • Damage to property will be invoiced to guests.

  • Bringing outside food or drinks to the Restaurant, Lapa, or pool area is not allowed.

  • No air-conditioning in chalets, only fans provided.

  • Please bring your own mosquito net if needed.

🔥 Braais, Cooking & Waste

  • Dune Chalets: Stainless steel braai grills (use charcoal only).

  • Campsites & Forest Chalets: Braai pits provided.

  • Hilltop Chalet: No braai or fire pit.

  • Bring your own firewood—collection from the park is prohibited.

  • Ice and charcoal are available for purchase.

  • Use the green bins for food waste—they’re used for our eco-friendly biogas system.

🏕 Campsite Capacity

  • Trailer tents allowed: Sites 1A, 1B, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8

  • Rooftop tents allowed: Sites 1A, 1B, 2, 4, 7

  • Caravans allowed: Sites 1A, 1B

  • No trailers/tents/caravans: Sites 3, 6

  • Power Limit: Each site is limited to 6A of electricity.

  • All campsites have ablution blocks, kitchens, and fire pits. Bring your own drinking water, and enough food.

  • Minimum guests:

    • Camp 8: 10 (peak), 8 (low season)

    • Other camps: 10 (peak), 2 (low season)

🏞 Park Services & Facilities

  • Restaurant, swimming pool, and Lapa available to guests (no lifeguards at the pool and beach).

  • Wi-Fi zones at Reception, Restaurant, and Lapa.

  • Backup generator until 10:00 PM during power outages.

  • Boat launch access available—ask at the Futi Gate for permits or fishing licenses.

🌍 Maputo National Park Rules (MNP)

  • No off-road or beach driving.

  • No driving after dark unless authorized.

  • No unauthorized fishing, wood collection, or wildlife interaction.

  • Gate hours are strictly enforced.

  • All rubbish must be removed from the park.

  • No firearms or domestic animals are allowed.
